Generally, it's suggested to plant 1 plant per 12-18". Consider your area and use that spacing as a guideline.
When choosing your plants, you may wish to consider:
Site conditions are important to consider to provide optimal moisture and light to support the plant's best outcome and growth.
It's nice to have one or more species in bloom throughout the season to provide color and beauty, as well as food sources for pollinators.
Consider the height of the plants and where they will be placed.
Grasses often get overlooked because they don't offer a colorful bloom, however, grasses play an important role by providing a finer texture to the garden. They also provide cover for bees and other ground polliators, nesting material for birds and fall/winter interest to the garden. Additionally, they help provide support to the flowering plants in the garden. Grasses are a valuable partner in our native landscapes.
