About us

Our history

Sustainable Stoughton began in the spring of 2014. A group of citizens looked at current city development issues and came together to bring about public discussion on sustainable development for Stoughton.

In the fall of 2015, Sustainable Stoughton merged with Naturally Stoughton, another local citizen group focused on education, community, and working toward more environmentally sound management of our public parks.

In the fall of 2015 we created a formal board of directors. On April 28, 2016, we became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

From 2015 through 2020 Sustainable Stoughton worked on many projects including offering free educational programming for it Green Thursday talks, creating and maintaining public garden spaces, and hosting an Earth Day Expo.

In 2020, Sustainable Stoughton took a hiatus when the global pandemic prevented public events and programming from taking place.

In 2022, Sustainable Stoughton reemerged with a new volunteer board and vision.
